REMEMBERING MY LATE DAD AT SAMHAIN

What to say about my dad,
he loved me and for that I'm glad,
he could be very hard at times,
he said, 'you have to be cruel to be kind'.
My dad could put his hand to anything,
he was the best, the D.I.Y. King.
Wall paper hanging, carpentry, painting,
building walls in the garden, patio laying.
His hobbie was the piano,
he loved to perform,
sometimes when at Christmas,
my mum would sing along.
He tried to get me to play,
it wasn't really my thing,
I always felt embarrassed,
when they asked me to sing.
He loved to do the Cross word,
reading books aswell,
but when his eyes got weaker,
I could really tell.
In the end throat cancer got him,
took my dad away,
I shall never forget, till my dying day,
the pain I felt, when I saw him fade away.
He took his final journey,
now the pain is gone,
I hope his soul is at rest,
because my dad was the best.
