Setting The Scene

Shades of Autumn
will soon take centre stage,
opening curtains on a rustic hue
of brown – orange – red and yellow,
each character dressed in their own
flaming glow...waiting for that moment
to shine like Cinderella at the ball, they
have their moment then start to fall,
then as bright light of Summer dims,
leaving the way for Winter soon;
nature prepares to take a rest
beneath a Harvest Moon.

The simplicity of this leaves
The simplicity of this leaves you with a rustic glow. It's a slice of the seasons and the delicate rhyme feels luscious. Really enjoyed the theatric theme. It's good to read something fresh and autumnal. I hope you are well, Jenny.

I have just realised that I seldom comment on your work, Jenny, because I believed that you wrote only prose and I don't much follow that genre being, as you know, mainly a poet. It was a nice surprise to find this sweet poem of yours, well deserving of the cherries. One can sense from it that you have an affinity with that season.
Best, Luigi xx

Autumn just happens to be my favourite month. I can never get enough of those reds and golds. In my books, you simply can't go wrong with a poem on the subject.

I liked the picture of the different leaves having their moment before they fall, Jenny. Yes, it can be a very beautiful time of year. Been blackberrying today! Rhiannon

Just stumbled upon this, Jenny. It is a little gem, and I'm so very pleased it got cherry picked.
And speaking of 'picks' it's a good year for blackberries...in my garden, at least. I have already made blackberry pies, and summer puddings, and now I'm trying to think what to do with the rest Some jam, maybe.
Have a lovely weekend.

I'm bias ;-) love this...
As a drama teacher it's so wonderful to see the stage in words... and love the picture that you chose, it gives it the essence of the fairytale magic of children's theatre. Thank-you for this.

Always a pleasure Jenny :-)
I'm sure the amateur dramatics played a role in helping you be aware of the world and seeing the depth, wonder and beauty that lies around us through the empathy learnt in performance :-) Keep up the good work lovely lady. Blessings
