Wisdom Of Life

How different the here and now,
it's still me! But yesterdays mortality
feels more starry.
Todays concerns are far more silent,
young examples of beauty and agility
among giants feels like art...once
appreciated, now boxed away
gathering dust.
Eventually we must all
move onto wiser tomorrows,
now not so strong, but still
large in different ways,
I recall when once ankles rested
on some foreign balcony,
while swift melody seranaded
swishing of tides,
capturing trance like state
that gave comfort,
smoothing over concerns,
there was always another
canvas to achieve, some new
mountain of life to climb,
where harshness of snow at peaks
reminded me of sherbet overflowing,
I was ready to dip my fingers in
sweetness of new escapades,
I'd follow confluence of rivers,
meeting like minded individuals
at edge of salty shores,
where tides inhale and exhale,
breathing in laced neckless of
seaweed, which was then expelled
wrapping around feet...soles leaving
footprints, shaking off lapping waves.
Now; I dip my head:
eyes gazing into essence of books,
taking in another spirit's youth
for adventures, continuing function
of strange mysteries that lead to life unknown.

Wisdom indeed, Jenny. As you
Wisdom indeed, Jenny. As you say, books are a wonderful way to go on exploring, even when we can no longer put our own ankles on those foreign balconies (what a wonderful image!).

This is beautiful in its rumination. I swayed as I read, such was the music of the lines.

I like the way you developed
I like the way you developed your thoughts here. 'Eventually we must all move on to wiser tomorrows,' is a great line. I like the way you now 'gaze into the essence of books, taking in another spirit's youth.'
