Somewhere Balloon

Someday Balloon,
You will be mine,
I’ll find you,
Red and drifting
and torn in a hundred places,
Lying on the ground,
Drowning beneath the sea,
Or peaking the top of the tallest mountain,
Lying there,
still and deflated like the rubbish you are…
Someday Balloon,
I will hold you again,
Grab your string and wrap you up,
and I’ll wrap my hand around to choke you,
and make you tell me
everything your crimson eyes have seen,
and maybe you’ll scold me,
or tell me nothing at all,
but it doesn’t matter because
Someday Balloon,
I will know you,
Like an old friend or enemy
-It will be your choice,
But when my cheeks are red from walking down the stairs,
and when I am all alone waiting for nothing, Balloon,
I will know you,
And when I am old with hair like white string,
when I stumble to pick you up, Balloon,
I will know you,
and Someday Balloon
When I am popped and deflated six feet underground,
Someday Balloon,
I will see you again…

Welcome from me, too. Lots
Welcome from me, too. Lots of lovely imagery in this poem and, as insert said, the repetition works really well, building up the tension.
