Chapter 1
Fae
I woke up in the morning to the sound of a loud yelp. I sighed and got up out of bed to see what was wrong.
In the kitchen, Zeke had dropped a knife onto his foot and stabbed it. He was hopping up and down, blood gushing dripping onto the floor. He healed in like ten seconds though. Werewolves were fast healers. When it healed, he picked up the knife and cleaned up the blood. Then he noticed that I laughing at him.
He glared, “That really hurt you know. What’s so funny?”
I smiled at him and said, “You just looked funny hopping around.”
“Thanks for trying to help.”
“Hey, it’s your mess.” Nevertheless, I walked into the kitchen and helped clean up the blood on the floor.
Willow walked in and wrinkled her nose. Were-blood was not her favorite. She grimaced as she poured herself a cup of coffee and said to Zeke, “You really should be more careful. Your blood smells.”
Zeke stuck his tongue out at her and I laughed again. Zeke acted like a kid so much sometimes. When they finished, the kitchen smelled strongly of bleach. I sighed and poured myself a cup of coffee as well. Zeke just chugged down water.
“What were you doing anyways?” I turned toward Zeke.
“I was trying to make breakfast, but I needed to clean out the dish drainer. Then I dropped a knife, ‘cause it was still wet.” He smiled sheepishly.
Hazel had come in and said, “What were you gonna make and are you still going to make it? I’m starved.”
“Me too,” I agreed.
“Me three,” Willow joined in.
Zeke sighed as if it was to much of an effort to go through now, “I was going to make me breakfast, but I guess I’ll make you guys pancakes too.”
We all cheered.
As Zeke made breakfast we sat in the living room to watch the local news. I sat down on the leather sofa and turned on the T.V. Hazel sat down next to me and Willow sat on the floor. We watched the weather and some boring story on this guy who won the world record for longest fall down a hill.
The smell of pancakes slowly whiffed into the room and Zeke came in and handed everyone a plate of food, leaving a plate for himself. He jumped onto Hazel and me, causing us to gasp and grumble as we made room for him in the middle and me. We ate their food when suddenly breaking news bulletin broke out on the news. Apparently some freak accident happened in a warehouse at the edge of town that left a person armless and mentally insane.
We gaped at the screen, food dribbling out of Zeke’s mouth. Hazel ended up looking disgusted and I said, “That’s horrible, what could have possibly caused that?”
Willow looked knowingly at me and said, “You know already Fae.”
“Dang it, I was hoping to watch a movie tonight.” I yawned and got to my feet. I would need to prepare for demon fighting. I looked back as I went to her room and asked, “Anyone coming?”
“I will, you never know when you’ll need a big strong werewolf will come in handy,” Zeke said with a smirk on his face.
Hazel shot back with, “You’re just doing it because there’s a full moon tonight.”
“So…”
I heard Willow laugh as I started to equip the things I would need.

I walked towards the factory in the shadows. I could here the shallow breathing of Zeke behind me. I sighed. I liked Zeke, but wished that he could be quieter. We reached the front door. I pointed left, then to me and then pointed forward.
Zeke nodded and ran off towards the back. We had discussed the plan. I would go in straightforward to attract the demon outright. Then if things started to look bad, Zeke would surprise in and attack.
I smiled; Zeke was one of the only few of his kind. Not many Weres existed anymore and only a small amount of Demons that existed knew about them. That’s why I liked him as a surprise weapon.
I looked at the door and tested the knob. Yep, it was locked. I sighed and kicked it open. The doors slammed open and I cringed at the slamming sound. Any ounce of surprise I had left vanished. I walked stealthily down the main hall, most demons lurked in the back corners of factories but you never know. It really depended on the demon.
As I walked down the hallway, I heard a slow drip hitting the wood floor. I grabbed a small flashlight out of one of my back pockets. Clicking it on, I looked left, and then right. Nothing. Then something dripped on my arm. Not even bothering to look up she unhitched a gun and shot up at it while reaching for another and diving away.
Something crashed to the floor and when Fae flashed the flashlight towards it I saw that it was a giant bat.
“Dammit!” I had killed the demon’s pet. The demon would smell the flesh and blood and come over here either to see what killed their pet or to eat it. Either way I was in big trouble.
Then a piercing howl struck through the halls. Fae got up and ran towards the howl. Zeke was in trouble and needed help.
“Dammit!” I ran into the hall and saw a limp Zeke on the ground and a Horn Demon standing over him blood dripping down off one of its horns. It sniffed and shot its head up looking straight at me.
It ran at me and I pulled out a sword from the sheath at my waist. When it came near enough I thrust it through the demon’s throat and shot one of my guns into its stomach. It howled in pain and tried to pull the now lodged sword from its throat. I took a long snarly knife from some inside pocket and cut its horn off. I grabbed the falling horn and stabbed it into the demon’s heart.
The horn demon exploded into a puff of dust.
I grabbed my now dusty weapons off the ground and walked towards Zeke. I sighed in relief. He was already healing the wound. I waited a couple of minutes for him to heal all the way. When he did I shoved him gently in the shoulder to wake him up.
He blinked and rolled over onto his stomach.
“Hey buddy, it’s almost morning and I really don’t want you to change in front of me. How are you doing by the way?” I said.
He wagged his tail and got up to run in front of me. I laughed and raced along with him. He made it to the car first and I laughed. He always won. It wasn’t fair when two more legs to run with.
We got home and Zeke padded into his room. Willow walked over to me to dust me off.
“How’d it go?”
“Great like always. Whatchya do while we were gone?”
“Clean.”
“Oops… Sorry Wil.” I looked at the dusty floor. “Here, I’ll vacuum.”
“Nah, I got it, you go take a shower.” Willow went into the other room to grab the vacuum.
“Thanks!”
Willow laughed.
I walked into the bathroom and took a shower. When I finished I heard some yelling in the other room. I got dressed and dried my hair with a towel as I walked out into the living room. At the front door, Willow was trying to push out a resistant Jerry. I heard Zeke growl from behind me as he walked up to me.
“What’s he doing here?” He asked.
“You expect me to know?”
I walked over to the door and Jerry immediately stopped resisting and straitened up. “Hello Fae,” he said with a smirk.
“What do you want?” I glared angrily at him. I had used to work with Jerry but when he started to gain things for evil purposes I quit the partnership. He had betrayed me and I could never forgive that.
“Just stopping by to see how you’re doing.” He smiled ruefully.
“Okay then leave.”
He sighed and said, “At least can I come in and sit down?”
“Nice try, if you have anything important to say you can say it there.” I crossed my arms and waited.
“Fine, I just thought I’d offer for your partnership again?”
“Nope.”
“Fine, what about a tiny favor?”
“Try again.”
He sighed, “You know I miss having you around, you know I’m sorry. What if I change my ways?”
“That’s not possible, especially since that demon in the factory was yours.” I had known that from the beginning when I first saw it. “You really should change the clothes you give each of you minions.”
“Fine, but trust me on this. You will regret that you ever rejected my offer.” He turned angrily and headed towards his car.
“I’m sure I will.” I laughed when Jerry shouted back, “I heard that!”
Zeke relaxed his pose and said, “You know he’s up to no good, right?”
I sighed, “Yah, but can I prove it?”
Willow came over and said, “Well there was that demon, but you dusted it so that’s not exactly helpful.”
“Thanks.” I walked to the fridge and grabbed a Snapple. “Hey, where’s Hazel at?”
“She went grocery shopping. We were running low on supplies,” Willow answered from the couch.
I sighed again. I really hated Jerry and yet he kept coming back. It hurt most because we had had a relationship. I had really liked him and now he was some demon cult guy.
I started to think. Jerry only asked me to retry the partnership when he was going to do something big. Great. I was just going to have to watch this one play out.
