Earth

I often think
When I drink
if there’s another earth
And would it be worth
Moving there
I expect the idea
Will never stand up to scrutiny
Let’s face it
There would be mutiny
The rich and the greedy
Would be the first to depart
And the likes of me
Would be left to rot
Because we forgot
How to cut the strings
From our shoulders
If we did
We’d be shot by soldiers
Protecting the mothership
Of the billionaires
Who are devoid of conscience
And speak with gold forked tongues
They have the money and the guns
And we have ourselves to blame
I often think
After a drink
That so many of us
Never learned
How to smell the smoke
Long before our planet burned.

but----if all the greedy
but----if all the greedy humans fled to that other Earth, maybe the gentle humans left behind could nurture this Earth back to health, and life would be sustainable? Wishful thinking.....
