If you buy me garage flowers
Rain hits the window like tears ignored
Two hand carved silences fill this space
What is this life whose slogan is bored
Why is there no feeling when we trace
Every journey is a trek back to the past
Trying to find something in the dark
He spends his time as an inward outcast
She is trying to melt her own heart
Kisses are cold the affection sold
What should be craved is kept inside
Why do we sit and watch unfold
A life that has nowhere left to hide
The rescue attempt is thin and bare
A fraying token of a long lost day
What is saved if you do not care
What words are used with nothing to say
We have driven through this cold cold rain
And spoke of nothing these past 2 hours
And I know you mean well but nothing is the same
Please don’t buy me garage flowers.
He put the bouquet across her knees
And they drove on deeper into the abyss
There was no smile no thank you please
And there was never a sign of a kiss.
He bought her garage flowers
It was all he could ever see
He tried to be different once
And bought some Argos jewellery
He bought red heart cards on Valentine’s
And chocolates from a supermarket shelf
He never really understood the signs
Never liked thinking for himself
