No Longer Mine

Remember when we threw our wishes into the sea
And watched the wind take them away
The indents in the sand filling with water
Erasing our faces drawn on that cold day
The walk on the cliff and spotting that boat
We shouted hello to the Captain’s mate
And laughed knowing he couldn't hear us
We held hands we felt no weight
The bar at the harbour the bottle of wine
Your face underneath that scarf
To capture those eyes for life
I took a hundred photographs
The log fire in the cabin we rented
The innocence of nothing to hide
Your body always drove me demented
As did the secrets you did confide
The weekend flew across the sky
Back to a life we couldn't kid
You returned to a man who didn't love you
Leaving behind a man who did
