We Are All Barcodes Now

Bankers took a gamble and failed
Left this world torn and broken
Not a single banker was jailed
For turning us all into tokens

Governments are happily complicit
The trough is feeding the sow
Everything they do is illicit
And we are all barcodes now

Gone are the days when money
Was a wage that lasted a week
Our innocence was simple and sunny
And our future was never so bleak

Then along came City speculators
Who turned us into sacrificial cows
They are the nation’s traitors
We are all barcodes now

The world’s running out of resources
But money still seeks its thrill
Governments use their armed forces
To seek out strangers to kill

War is seeking shareholders
Terrorism is a government vow
They are sacrificing our soldiers
We are all barcodes now

The bank vaults are almost empty
The innocent are filling up graves
Killed by those who have plenty
Who want our children to be slaves

The cull of the poor is in full swing
See the rich stand together and bow
We the people are numbed by the sting
We are all barcodes now
