Words like Pearls

Knowledge should be simplified

And never seem tongue tied

It should be gathered like a harvest

Then freely given away

But also stay with you for life

I sat hypnotised as he unveiled his wisdom.             

‘I knew nothing as a boy

My mind was still a toy

That I couldn’t work

I rarely looked at books

I gave long words suspicious looks

Why can’t they all be simple I thought

Then nobody would get caught

Struggling for something big to say

That would make someone feel small

And make an arsehole feel tall?

Those who climb an intellectual ladder

Tend to gloat from a lofty height

Looking down on all those look up

To see and hear the pretension and the shite’
