JAILED SUNSETS.
(Charred horizons)
sneak
Beneath these charred horizons,
my image, your regret.
A staid and cold existence,
we face a jailed sunset.
Curves, once fascinating -
to eager youthful hands,
now little more than casualties -
of ever shifting sands.
Arms once bound emphatically -
to soft and slender sides -
embrace with dying passion,
as the second-hands divide -
our lives in to compartments -
that will ultimately see -
an end to the illusion -
of you equalling me.
These disappearing senses -
that robbed us of the past -
taint memories once vivid -
and guaranteed to last.
But nothing is the ultimate -
end to which we strive,
as we lie in recognition -
of the times we felt alive.
Take heart my sweet serenity,
take frail these hands malign.
I will see you in the next life -
and heaven will be mine.
For only time has motioned -
that you and I must part.
So strive unto this end,
but think not as I depart,
that you and I are over.
Certainty is all we need.
I will love you ever-after.
To jailed sunsets we won't concede.
