The Angel's Silence 37

John was in a daze.

He didn't know what the doctor has injected him with, but he didn't like it.

He couldn't even move a finger.

His vision was clouded, and distorted. He closed them for a few moments before he heard a soft woman's voice whispering,

"He is still out there. He has killed, and will kill again. He has the boy. He will use him as leverage. You're the only one who can stop him,

John. Soon, it will be too late. Please hurry."

As she was leaving, John was able to tell that it was the mysterious girl from the police station that one day.

The only known witness.

"How could she know I was here? How could she know the VPK has Adamo?"

John asked himself these questions.

He tried to open his mouth to call for the girl, but he couldn't. He couldn't move either, and desperately needed the girl's help.

"She is probably long gone by now."

He thought to himself before losing consciousness.

Elena walked into Antanas' room while Mariya was still inside.

"What are you doing back in here? I told you to go away."

Said Mariya

"I need to talk to you."

Said Elena

"What could you possibly have to say to me. To tell me more lies about my husband?"

"What I told you before was not a lie, but that is not what I am here for. I was madly in love with Antanas, and he just left without even saying goodbye. I have never truly been able to get on with my life. I needed to know why anyone would do such a thing.

After seeing him again the other day after all of these years, and learning the truth about why he had to leave, it eliminated some of the pain that I have carried around. Especially after caring for him for that short amount of time. He didn't remember you or your daughters. It almost felt like old times, and my judgment became clouded. I believed that I could easily win him back.

However, I wasn't taking into consideration all the pain I would be causing you and your daughters.

I am sorry, and I realize that I was just living a lie, and reliving the past. I can't take back what I've done, but I can promise you that I will leave your husband alone. I'm going home now, and have asked not to be given this patient, so you won't have to worry about me anymore.

I am truly sorry for all the mess I've caused. I hope Antanas will regain his memory, and everything will be fine for you."

Before Mariya had a chance to say anything, Elena was gone. Mariya, for a moment, almost felt bad, but then remembered what she had told her about Antanas' past.

R.N. Hristina Zara went to check on John, when she realized his door was locked. She called for him to open it, but was met with no response. After she finally got the door open, she realized that it had been jammed from the inside. She tried to wake John, but knew something wasn't right. He wasn't responding, and was starting to turn blue. She shouted for help. Fortunately, Dr. Hovhannes was nearby. He, along with two other doctors, and Nurse Zara tried their best to help him, while trying to figure out what was wrong. Three minutes later, Hristina noticed the injection mark on John's neck. They immediately ran blood tests, and had them sent to the lab. They desperately needed to know what he was poisoned with. He was put on a monitor which showed a dramatically slowed down heart rhythm.

Caelia was back in Maya's room. Maya was beginning to feel a bit nauseous, but the doctor told her that would happen with the medication she was taking. Maya's legs were starting to go numb. The doctor told her she could get up, but she would need help, and to walk slowly. Caelia helped her.

Rayna saw this, and became infuriated. She was her sister, and Caelia was there with her, not her. Her blood pressure was quickly raising, her heart was racing. She did not know why she was feeling this way. Just hours earlier she hated Maya, and almost wished she had died.

Now she was probably the most angry she had ever been because someone else was with her sister besides her.

"What is wrong with me?"

She repeatedly asked herself, while becoming more and more angry as the moments passed by.

Soon, she could no longer control her anger, ran as fast towards Caelia as she could, knocked her to the ground and began punching her.

People nearby witnessed this, and tried to get Rayna off of her, but something inside of her had snapped, and she was uncontrollable.

A male nurse had no choice, but to sedate her.

Even after that, she still continued to struggle from their grip with all of her might before the sedative finally kicked in.

Maya just stood there in shock. She had never seen her sister that way.

She could feel a lump growing in her throat as tears filled her eyes.

"What is wrong with my sister?"

She whispered to herself

"We are going to need to contact her parents about this."

One doctor said as he carried her to a room.

Mariya was still sitting next to Antanas when she noticed her cell phone blinking.

This meant she had a new unheard message.

She was not allowed to use it in the building, so she walked out to see who it was.

It was a doctor from Grazia Salvifica hospital saying,

"There has been an incident with your daughter, Rayna, and we need to speak with you."
