Maya tried to catch up with Brent, but he was already long gone.
She was so angry at Rayna that she decided she wasn't coming home at all.
She got ride from a friend, and drove to Brent's house.
He wasn't home yet, but she waited on the porch as her friend drove away.
Nearly an hour later, Brent came home, and saw Rayna there waiting for him.
"What are you doing here?"
He asked as he unlocked his front door.
Maya followed him inside the house, and into his bedroom.
He tossed his keys on his wooden dresser that was up against the wall, and five feet from his door to the left.
He removed his sweated through shirt, and put on a clean black T-shirt.
Maya sat at the end of his bed, and tried to talk to him, but he wasn't interested in what she had to say.
Brent was the school Jock, and the quarterback in the school football team.
He stood 6'1" and weighed 165 lbs.
His hair was dirty blond, and went below his eyes.
"I am so sorry about my sister, Brent.
Please, don't be angry with me because of her."
Pleaded Maya.
They had been going out for two years until a few months earlier when he abruptly broke up with her.
They had just gotten back together a month earlier, and already he was angry with her.
"It's not just your sister, she is the least of our problems.
Things are never going to change between us."
Said Brent, angrily.
"What do you mean by that?
I thought things were good between us."
"They haven't been good in a long time.
I know that when we were broken up, you cheated on me."
Maya put her head down.
She wondered how he could have found out about that when she told no one.
"It's not cheating when you're no longer together.
Besides, I know that you were with other girls while you were still with me,
and I never once complained about it, even though it tore me up inside."
"None of them girls counted.
That was just a casual, one of two time deal.
You're the one that I love, but I need to know that you love me, too."
"Of course I do."
"Than prove it!"

Rayna had little choice than to return home, and face her parents.
She knew they would be angry when Maya was not with her.
"Where have you been?
Where is your sister?"
Asked an angry Mariya.
"I'm late because I was trying to get Maya to come home.
She took off with some friends, and I don't know where she is."
"That's no excuse!
You were given an order to watch over your sister, and you can't even do that for me.
Just wait until your father hears about this."
Rayna rolled her eyes, and went to her room.
Once there, she tossed her books onto the floor, and fell backwards onto her bed.
She stared up a her ceiling, closed her eyes, and imaged that she was someplace else where she knew no one, and no one knew her.
Someplace where she can be accepted for who she is.
Then, her mind wandered off again, this time to Professor Antonov.
"He is such a smart, accomplished man.
I hope I can be like him someday."
She thought to herself.
She started to fall asleep when she heard shouting coming from outside of her door.
It was her parents arguing about her and Maya.
She wondered why her father was home so early.
A few moments later, the shouting was gone.
Rayna began working on her essay.
She wanted to impress Professor Antonov.
Nearly two hours later, Maya still wasn't home, and her parents were frantic.
