A Moment

As I sit on the stairs to my front porch
I close my eyes for a moment
Elevation of senses
the smell of fresh cut grass
the smell of Gardenia in bloom
the smell of Petunia
the sound of crickets
the humming of air conditioners
the chirping of this crazy bird
...strumming a never ending tune of the night
the sound of motors from cars
...carried over by the light breeze
Ever so gentle summer breeze
... barely there
caressing my face and tangling lightly my long hair
As I open my eyes I take it all in with every sense amplified
I taste the smells on my tongue
I see fireflies glowing blinking in the sky
the stars so beautifully arranged
...uncountable sparkles and wonders
the airplanes distant flicker in between nature
and the close deep overhead flying one
... that seems so close so full of hope and promise
... yet never see it land
I feel the need to embrace this peace from deep within
As I lay on my back on the paved driveway
... staring up as my mind roams free
... consuming this moment with every breath
finding it wandering to you
In the city you can't see this
... smell this
... hear this nor taste it
Different senses and wonders at hand
... maybe a star here and there
when you look up
so I wondered with sharing, feeling you deep inside my soul
when you look up do you think of me
... do you even see
I know your breath
... your walk
... your touch
so many times so close we've been
I know you
as you know me
All of this
all those senses and intensity
how can this be?
