A man needs a gun, a horse and a love,
Substitutes are the priority of a newer government.
Belonging to a tribe inked across the breast,
Striped ties strung around narrower necks.
The sun still rustles through the grass,
The passing out of love toward its sunset.
Prince sings No one Compares To You,
Young gazelles break free over the savannah.
They say He collects our tears in timeless vaults,
Someone is enforcing the law, revealing yet another flaw.
The short endings of our instinctive nature,
Evolutionary psychology and the double helix mark the way:
The door still closes on yet another measured day,
The hinges fit like sex, like power, like death.
