Deceptive Sonnet

Unheard, is the click upon the back door
The silence of the house is not broken
Moonlight casts her shadow, upon the floor
Swiftly moving onward, thoughts unspoken
Softly she treads, she hardly makes a sound
Creeping gently upstairs, the hour is late
Hopes no one notices her come around
He stirs in his sleep, she pauses, does wait
Distance closing now, she is nearly there
Her plan to slip silently into bed
She does it most nights, he is unaware
And in the morning nothing then is said
Not asleep, he merely pretends to doze
Hello puss cat he says, meeow she goes
