Puritans

The Puritans sailed in sixteen twenty
Pilgrims, escaping their persecution
Virgin lands, promising life aplenty
And where their God gives all absolution
As the ship docks, it becomes us and them
A new country, a new constitution
Seventy two years, the town of Salem
The time is ripe for some retribution
Heretics abound, witches are found
People demand trial, and execution
Rumour surrounds, compassion has no bounds
To the Lord we offer restitution
These twenty six lives, we have to forsake
So burn them all, burn them all at the stake.
