China 4

Now, of course there's much good in China. What we often see in others is the bad. Seeing the bad in others is a method of consolidating the vital belief systems of the ego. China is a much more communal country which makes sublimation a much easier process to fulfill. China is the East Asian country that has has stuck most closely to its East Asian roots (Taoism, Confucianism). The Chinese do not bend though like the tree that is about to be broken by the wind.
I have observed many Chinese-Americans and most of them make no attempt to integrate into America. With some of them, I really wonder, "Who the fuck are you?" Even some Indians make me wonder about the same question. They really act superior. I don't know why this bothers me since I have the ego the size of the universe but it really bothers me.
One Chinese man was teaching his son how to swim and he was constantly insulting him and prodding him on. This is how a Zen Master teaches. But if your son is not Michael Phillips, complain to God about it. I know where this will lead. It was laed to fathers crying in private when their sons shame them. It was lead to loneliness and living inside of the head. It will lead to going from one extreme of child indulgence to child-discipline... a zero sum game. It could produce a genius of swimming or a genius of piano playing. But I must admit, I've always loved Classical music and I am very proud that East Asia has produced some great musicians, but to tell you the truth, I don't see much depth in the music. The reason I listen to classical music is to organize my emotions, not some intellectual attempt to see the semiotic of music.
