Conventional Things

to love one's wife
is the synergy of love
that overflows from God's grace.

our goals are banal...
to build a home,
to have kids,
to work...
it is good to do these things.

it is hard to love
when so much we want to prove ourselves
to the one we love,
to find ourselves worthy...
it is impossible.

it's hard to love
because it relaxes us,
makes us realize
that proving ourselves
is only sorry sport.

it's good to love
because it makes us whole,
because it is a vital component
of our becoming.
