Dear Christ

You who saved me from the terrible weight of my sin,
breaking my soul down,
surfing down from the handiwork of the stars
to save me, Lord
walking alone on the gibbous moon.
Where am I, alone, so alone
in the darkness of time
wondering if there is anything sacred anymore
if any soul or image
is to be defecated upon to make it equally
profane in men's eyes.
DO not hate me Lord
cause I sin and sin
looking for freedom,
seeing my relationship to you as slavery,
Lord
Redeem me in your eyes,
be my refuge and comfort.
Break me and remake me in your image,
destroy me, shape me anew.
Make my heart contrite,
break my spirit.
In the morning, I came to meet you
found only seashells next to the shore,
hungered long for spirituality,
lusted for food
and made myself a whore of my instincts.
I looked for you
but was left alone
to contemplate life without you
which is a kind of death
skeletal existence,
boredom.
