Forgive me, Purify me Lord...

forgive and purify me Lord,
judge me Lord
how self-indulgent i am
how sinful
cleanse me of my sins
and make me presentable
to your Grace.

Lord, Bless those who come in need
who are filled with the Holy Spirit
and suffer for your sake
in your name
help me to deny and transform
my basic instincts
to holy hearts
let them ship to heavenly places
with silver lungs
help me Lord, let me love you with my soul.

there's so much wrong in the world
my spirit is crushed by human hands
which pound and pound, "nothing can be done."
Let me try and try and know
something can be done...
let the rich and wealthy open their giving hands
to the poor
knowing that
charity need not bring results
the poor suffer so much
and are downcast
with angry and painful eyes
they often live
miserable lives
deprived of joy.

bless those who are pure in heart
let them feel the city of God
and know its pure warm-hearted presence
like a Father's love...
let them know you are there for them
and bless them Lord
bless them.

Be with Israel in this time if need
and refresh their souls and understanding,
teach them the ways of the Lord
that people's hearts can be turned
no stone is so stone that it cannot soften.

Lord, let not one minority hate another
or let them not think that they climb the ladder
of status and power
by subdueing another minority,
let them see their common concerns
and entreat the majority
with brave words.

Lord, thank you for all your blessings...
