Guns and Terrorism 2

What seems most disturbing about some people's reaction to gun-massacres is the idea that they are in a movie or what they are seeing is unreal. Some people reacted that way to the Paris massacre.
To these people, they have seen these violent images so often in the media or the news that they have effectively become numb. The repetition of certain massacres and happenings seem to give massacres a place in our ordinary lives. This should not be so. We should fight from becoming used to accidental violence.
What is evident is that guns ARE, they exist, and their meaning is clear when used by a terrorist and a crazy person. It signifies nihilism, destruction, and death. A gun is not an image of a gun. A massacre is not an accident which cannot be avoided. It is not some scientific accident or habit of violence. Our indifference to what is happening signifies a special security that it would not happen to us, but ACCIDENTS can happen at any time to anyone.
