Now, I will speak about what I mean by liberal culture. Liberal culture as a meritocracy can be seen as flowering in the 1960's. So, if we start liberal culture at 1960 for convenience's sake, it is basically 55 years old. The meritocracy culture also coincides with the Liberation culture of the same time. The end of the liberal culture was somewhat presaged by books like, "The Closing of the American Mind" by Allan Bloom.

The Tea Party Movement is another movement which foreshadows the death of this culture.

Meritocracy culture was supposed to reward minorities based on their merits. If the US was truly to reward minorities based on their merits, I think that it would be Jews who won this contest. However, other minorities like the Irish and others have more influence on American politics than Jews. This is not to downplay the Irish contribution to American politics. I'm speaking sheerly in terms of merit. Also, it can be argued that the Irish made an art out of the playing the political system and that is why they have been rewarded politically.

I also want to make a comment here that the Russian-American contribution to the death of the Cold War is something that is very much understated.

With that said, let me analyze the "meritocracy" game in terms of how fair it was to the winners and losers.

In terms of academics, nothing has really changed for Jews. There's still a 25% quota in most universities for Jewish academics. One way around this has been Americanization and intermarriage, but this cannot be included as a "meritocracy" win in terms of minority politics.

Population wise, Jews are at around 6,000,000 and have been for a while. During the Reagan Administration, there was some emigration of Russian Jews as refugees. Whatever the increases in Jewish-American population may have been, it has been steadily 2% of the population.

Is there less racism toward Jews? 

Far right groups still target Jews. In fact, if we look closely at the "hermeneutics of suspicion" of the far right, the far right often implies that the Jews are the ones who are really in control and power. This kind of logic actually supports "liberals" who have not rewarded Jews accordingly for winning the meritocracy game. Again, I am not arguing that Jews are racially superior to other people. I am just saying that within the context of the meritocracy game, the Jews won. Also, it is hard to classify Jews as a race because of the diversity and the history of the Jews.

So, what did Jews win?

What they should rightfully have had in the first place. 

A gift of the Jews is the "word" in all its manifestations. The dominance of the Jews where words are concerned is rightfully theirs. The Media, Hollywood (visual word), Books, and even Banking involve words and the use of words. At the same time, I really don't see how the Media and Hollywood expresses a Jewish viewpoint. I do see how it expresses a liberal viewpoint and I often disagree with the Media, but hey, they have a right to a political viewpoint.

Business also... which is rightfully theirs. Jews are good business-people.

Here also, I don't really see how the "meritocracy" really rewarded the Jews. This is more of a function of the "liberation" of the abilities of Jews.
