Just a grammatical thing 5

"So they stuck you here with us for attempting to assault (?"
they didn't understand why i could be just as important as they were, but they were very interested in me because i could change from one sign to another.
they wrote something on a piece of paper.
"3+2=5."
"can you change the 5 to a 6, kid?"
i had never been a number. i had never been told that i couldn't be a number either. that was the good thing. i entered the number 5 and tried to curve the figure. to my surprise, it was relatively easy to turn the 5 to a 6.
"can you change the 5 to an 8?"
i tried to think of all the things I ate today... commas, periods, exclamation marks. the 5 changed to an 8. % and $ were as happy as they could be. it was as though they had found an old buddy. they made some calls. soon we were free, very free.
there were these parties with the hottest grammatical babes floating around, serving me exotic drinks. ( eyed me flirtateously and conveniently forgot about the whole unpleasant incident with the interviewer. she was wondering if i could improve her figure. ? was telling me all these things about herself. they all made me into the center of attention as the money kept rolling in. as time passed, i became more and more unhappy. this wasn't what i wanted. i wanted a home. i wanted a family.
i got married to loneliness. she was shy, but she understood me. we lived together, far from others, and watched the leaves fall, dancing in the air.
