Korean Americans : Kevin

Kevin talks about how difficult the divorce was for him. He really loved his American mother. After the divorce, he wanted to meet his biological mother, his Korean mother. I remember how my former girlfriend (Beth) had been adopted by American parents. She wanted to meet her biological parents too. Kevin talks about how he always thought he was white until one day, I guess, someone told him he wasn't. I wonder how people cannot see their own faces and their own skin. I also sympathize with him.

He's wearing a shirt from Philips Academy Andover. I ask him if he went to Andover for school. He tells me he went to summer school there. Over time, I get a sense that he had some problems in Boston and that's why he's living with his father down South. He's trying to start a new life here.

He tells me that he used to bang Chinese restaurant waitresses in the kitchen. I'm a little jealous of him. I haven't had much luck with women. His stories also gross me out a bit. I wonder if some of them are made up.

Kevin calls me one day. He wants to go somewhere but he's not telling me where. "Come on," he says. We end up in a porno shop. It's true I've seen my fill of pornography, but a porno shop is not somewhere I want to go. You can smell the loneliness in the men in these shops.

I'm beginning to dislike Kevin. I really don't want to associate with him anymore.
