let me not

let me not
deign to assign
a fabric of time
upon your starry eyes,
so cold they shone
under the umbrella of shyness.
i did not know what to say,
had I
inadvertently
found and tripped upon my double?
dancing upon tiptoes
seeing you,
a camera watching me,
a Nabokovian moment
filled with particularities.
how divine thou art!
like a Greek Goddess,
you look after me,
send me suggestions, full of the potent magic
of charisma,
showing how much you care
while I freeze in the limbo
of egoism.
lovely-minded soul, minted with the virtue
of ages past,
dost thou know that wisdom can kill thine fortune?
if by fortune thou didst mean to politik,
give generously
and manage like a microbe
for the world is not as evil as thou thinkest.
And if thou lovest me,
do not wear it in your gestures and words
but in thine heart
and show me that love that thou cammandeth by giving
to those in need, those who are trying.
do not be so cruel
for cruelty often masketh
a hidden agenda,
give and take lightly....
