Let me not sugar

you with the flow of love,
lust upon your bushes of hair...
toss all caution to the wind and
slice my hands as though I were cutting thin air...
do not say that you love me
simply say you respect me, your hair
with ornaments to darlings,
pearls in heat or gems of stars, brilliantly clad
in the night, in the soul, in the world.
it's true I love you
but do not say
that you love me too
with a condescending oriental eye,
Say you respect me
out of curiosity for the sensuous, do not
imply that I love, but say
I respect you with a mind.
do not say
anything, say love's
curious.
