My writing on Trump has been influenced by New Yorker articles and other forms of information on the Internet.
Stupidity is contagious. The idea that Donald Trump is attacking illegal aliens sounds ridiculously stupid at times. If Donald Trump ran a real-estate empire, it is obvious that he knew nothing of what was going on in that empire.
It's probably true that Donald Trump used many, many illegal immigrants for construction work, for his hotels, and for his casinos.
These illegal immigrants he is not attacking. Yet, at the same time, he is courting the low-wage white workers. Some of these low-wage workers lost jobs to illegal workers.
Donald Trump says that he can make the deals with China, Japan, and South Korea. He is an expert in East Asian Studies. At the same time, what he says of making the deal in Asia is incredibly naive. I don't think any qualified East Asian deal maker says, " That's Donald Trump. Let's make a deal with him." At Harvard, I clearly got the sense that deal-making in East Asia was an excruciating process. The only analogy in the American system that I can think of is the Bank Loan Process. Even then, making a deal in East Asia is not a clear-cut process and involves much thinking and time. Most American corporations seem to send well-rounded, likable people who fail miserably at any sort of negotiation.
As for calling Donald Trump a racist, it seems to be really stupid to call anyone a racist. Liberals who call Donald Trump a racist seem to live in a mostly white-dominated, wealthy world. Although they are not personally wealthy, they partake of that wealth in one way or other. Donald Trump couldn't make it into that world so he formed a personality, became a celebrity in order to compensate for his sense of inferiority to the Old Money World.
Let me delve into a little ditty on racism. You may think that whites are racist, but it is probably true that your race is also racist. Somehow, it is easier to swallow a racist comment from your own race because they understand the culture. On the same line of thought, I find the Korean sense of conformity (That there is only one type of Korean) extremely bizarre and strange. Koreans want to identify with the top .01% of their race that went to Harvard or Yale and became a phenomenal genius or an international businessman or celebrity. This is highly unrealistic and ultimately destroys the fabric of society. The way that genius works within society is a main theme of the novels of Saul Bellow. It is also present in movies like Crocodile Dundee. Diversity has a positive effect of constraining over-competition, creating synergy through acceptance of difference, and creating a continuum of energy from nature to culture. As I've implied before, East-Asian culture is, at core, Puritanical and intensely prejudiced. The wealthy and powerful never notice these things because they are courted everywhere.
To get back to the Donald, he is serving one positive function and is working like a genius in terms of consolidating the Conservative Party. That's why he's so popular, but he could possibly be flirting with Fascism and apartheid. That's where my support of the Donald disappears. If Pat Buchanon becomes his running mate, it will literally be some kind of nightmare for the United States. No other nation in the world will come to our tables.
