She seemed to be looking into his eyes, searching for something real, something concrete. For a short time, her eyes almost felt like flashlights.
"I don't like my father," she confessed, "I don't think I should have forgiven him."
"It's only a novel... not even a good novel."
"But I liked the novel, personally... I just thought I, Sarah, would not have forgiven him. I would have killed him, wouldn't I?"
"Would you?" he asked.
"Wherever You May Lie" was not a novel he really wanted to talk to about.
"He was taking credit for everything I did."
She began to pace around the room. "You don't know what it is like to be a woman...it's tough. You try so hard to get recognized and then, it seems like someone else is always stealing your ideas... especially men. They are ruthless. Then to have my father rear me as a "Superwoman." All he wanted was credit for having created a modern, independent woman. Why can't a woman create herself?"
He could tell that she was about to fall into tears. He offered her a tissue.
"Thank you so much, but I really hate you. You think I'm weak, don't you?"
"I was just being polite."
"Yes, you are being polite." she killed the cigarette. "So do you think you can give me this makeover?"
"I don't know. You want to commit parricide in my next novel. It's so sensational. I don't think you are that kind of person."
"I am. You really don't know how much violence there is within me. I'm really a psychotic inside. I'm only soothed by affairs in which I am deeply in love, and then, after, I really begin to hate this manmade world."
He looked at her. Was she really a psychotic? Did she really blame her father for everything? Wasn't there another side to the story?
"I also want more sex scenes," she insisted.
"Why don't you go to Hollywood?"
"You have anything to drink?" she asked. "Mike's Hard Lemonade? You drink this awful stuff?"
"You can see that I am... I am so sick of being this weak character. Aren't I supposed to be a Superwoman?"
"You were supposed to be, but you ended up giving in to your guilt and conscience."
"That's why I want to be recreated... this stuff's not bad."
