We live day and day

Our work becomes harder day by day
as things get easier for everyone else.
We wonder, "What are we protecting?"
People work and play, we sacrifice our lives
as missionaries
spies
or members of the military
while people come and play.
Our words have grown cold
frozen and turned into icicles.
To do right is hard,
long-suffering and in the end
no one cares,
everyone wants to know who won.
All the plans must come together
at the right time...
and now
the rich buy more and more toys,
eyes covered with competition and envy
and see
the rest of the world as failures.
But what are we living for...
there is no security anymore,
there are no rules anymore,,,
so what home are we fighting for?

Glad to have this conversation, Steve!
