Who lies behind the masks

behind the blind of the mask,
the story untold
is the river of deep sounds.

the water washes away the masks, lets them go
like bird in the sky,
uncaged,

you let go of the masks
because you know
how much pain is a part of you
an essential part that defines who you are.

for so many years
you sought pleasure in masks
wishing to pluck your identity
and turn yourself
back into life.

i don't you
all those masks you donned on
to hide your unformed
almosy fetus like face
wishing to fit in and grow
amongst the flowers.

but you were you
wishing only to be
and not cut off.
