In small town America

I want to live in a house in small town America,
Where our windows are adjacent,
And we stay up talking in the summer,
With the haze and mosquitoes,
Carrying our words back and forth,
And back again,
Until the sun exhales it's last breath of light,
And disappears over the horizon,
The glint in your eye still remaining,
Taking my heart,
But into you,
Where it is safe tonight,
And goodbye is not nearly as poignant,
As this melancholic circumstance invites,
And you're leaving your window,
Electrifying me with a smile.
