The Dream

I have dreamed of my death for many years now. My bare feet move across a cold dark marble floor. A sea of ringlets of red hair lay down my back. A strapless sapphire blue and black silk corset dress hugs my curves perfectly. On my left ring finger sets a brilliant cut sapphire with diamonds on either side set in white gold. Heavy around my neck is a large cross made of sapphire and diamonds on a thick white gold chain. In my hands I carry a bouquet of silver and blue roses.
Reaching the mammoth wood and iron doors, I take a breath and sigh. A nod to the guards sets them in motion opening the doors. I step one foot inside and before me is a massive hall. It reminds me of a castle from an 1800’s romance novel. Large tapestries and linens line the walls. Hundreds of lit candles are scattered around the room and hang from several large chandeliers. Light and shadow dance as a gentle breeze blows through. A large skylight allows a soft glow of moonlight to shine through. I smile as I see his face. “Lucian”, I whisper.
Lucian, a dark angelic beauty that is enhanced by the moonlight that shines on him. Dark amber eyes that seduced me are now lovingly calling me. Dark wavy hair and 5 o’clock shadow only add to his splendor. I am always in awe of his quiet regal grace.
My heart is in a constant state of pain. His touch is my only relief. I take a step forward and my feet touch the soft carpet rolled out in front of me. I have never known love or passion before him. I will never know it after him. I walk not only to the man I love but also to my death.
A guitar and violin began playing a beautiful melody. I am not familiar with it outside of my dream. The hall was full of men and women who were now on one knee before me. As I walked past them they bowed their heads. I noticed them but I was not able to break away from Lucian’s stare. My heart raced with anticipation of his touch.
