Praise bounteous providence...

Praise bounteous providence that even gargoyles may experience compassion just once in their lives
I didn't know you
Though I fell for your story
And your fate brought a tear to my eye
To the bastards who hurt you
Who called you evil
No
You innocent, timid little man
I didn't know you
You who lived a wretched life
Had wings broken, burned and torn from your back
You whose feathers now are lost in the wind
That once felt soft on your scaly skin
Don't be afraid
Please don't cry
I didn't know you
You who grabbed at roots from the rocks
To climb the highest mountain
You who found the roots grabbed back
Tearing your bloody beating heart from your chest
That once felt warmth from the woman's love
Take my hand, sir
Close your eyes
I didn't know you
You who met a fork in the mountain path
A choice of which peak to stand on
You who wandered a labyrinth awaiting you
As you fell from the path
No wings to lift you to safety
No helping hand to lead your struggle
Nobody waiting at either exit
I pity you now
You brave, brave man
Go now
Leave this world behind
Give me the poison of your life
Out of your broken body
Your soul is so beautiful
