Screaming through a pen

So here I am
Screaming through a pen
Wearing down my little paper soul
How awful it is
And yet I find it so easy
To write what I believe
Rather than to say it
As I am the only one who has to believe it
And the convincing is done
I do like it
Yet how awful it is
To find yourself screaming through a pen
Wearing down your paper heart
How do you like it?
Is it not so easy?
To write what you believe
Without the strain of convincing others
Because they don’t know
They shouldn’t know
But they do
Then everyone knows
And it hurts
But there is never pain
As we find ourselves screaming through a pen
Wearing down our paper spirits
With the morale of a soldier in a losing fight
So terrified of losing
They find themselves screaming through a pen
Hoping it will destroy their paper hearts
And they will not feel the pain of losing
As their hearts are torn like paper
And their pen is bleeding dry
With no more voice to scream with
The pen lets go
Too hoarse to scream
Too dry to bleed
