Your Journey

Close your eyes
Stand on the moon
Imagine fitting the world in the palm of your hand
What would you do with it?
Would you throw it away from you
It and all of its inhabitants
Your mother, father, sister, brother
You friends and enemies
And anyone you’ve ever known
Would you crush it like an insect
Destroying all recognisable imprints of life
As if the world itself was never alive
Would you open your chest there and then
And slip it inside your body
In that special place next to your heart
Let it go again
Just look at it
Now slowly jump
Look through the clouds
You must be freezing
Stop!
On top of a mountain, looking down
You’ve got quite a journey ahead, mate
You’re along way from your comfort zone
And you gave up trying to fly home so long ago
But it’s OK
If you just kick your feet off the ground
Lift your arms
Lighter than air
Now and only now
Look down
Steel yourself against icy winds
Don’t look into the sandstorms
Protect yourself
Hide away from the night time
Lie perfectly still
Lest monsters from your past drag you down
Fly above them, out of reach
They can’t touch you now
That circle of people
Everyone you’ll ever meet in your life
Everyone with a meaning to you
Waving lights and candles
Welcome home with open arms
Each one on turn will ask “Where did you go?”
And to each you’ll give the same response “Nowhere”
Smile
The world is a good place, really
