goodbye our queen 

we knew one day you have to go 

but none of us 

couldn't believe you would not be there

when we were scare 

you were always there

with your words of comfort 

in painful times

a wife a mother a granny and aunty too

and friend so dear to those who knew you 

but to us, you were our queen we love 

with your smile so bright

and your bright outfits

you stood out 

so people could see you 

a bond girl 

and a sandwich in your handbag

that you kept for later 

your humor came through

when your father died

you vow to us 

how ever long or short 

your life would be

you devoted your service to us

and with your love one by your side 

the love of your life

and when you close your eyes

he was there to hold your hand 

 to walk with you.

so for 70 years, you were  our queen
