Christmas
(Decorations)
Out come the decorations. The reds, the greens, the blues.
Which do we put up first ? Everyone wants to choose.
First to go up are the garlands, covering the ceiling.
Next to go up are the balloons, which aren't quite so appealing.
Up goes the Christmas tree, in its splendour and its glory.
Where every little broken branch, tells its own mischievous story.
The lights light up the Christmas tree, the decorations give off tiny beams.
That's what every child at Christmas time, see's in all their dreams.
Up go all the other things, the cards, mistletoe and holly.
The tinsel thrown onto the tree, these things make Christmas jolly.
The crackers crack around our heads, and the party poppers pop.
Now, all we need is presents under the tree, and a fairy on the top.
(Christmas Day)
6 o'clock in the morning, everybody wakes.
The garden is covered from end to end, in tiny snowflakes.
Everyone sits around the tree, the gifts are handed out.
Then we all get excited, and all begin to shout.
Out throwing snowballs at each other, while the parents make the dinner.
The one with the biggest snowman, they shall be the winner.
We sit around the table, and each say a little prayer.
We pray for all the people, with no Christmas out there.
(New year)
We're sad to see it all come down, now that Christmas has to end.
Sometimes for sadness and for joy, on Christmas we depend.
Santa's been and gone now, so the decor's coming down.
Father takes down the Christmas tree, but gives a little frown.
He sees me staring sadly, puts his arm around my shoulder.
He takes me to one corner, and says, 'Son, when you're older'
'You'll have to do this, for your children one year.'
Then, as I watch him walk away, in his eye I see a tear.
