Water-Carriers

Man's body returns to dust
Sooner than the gun, the coke can, the water-carrier.
Oil profits the few, yet we pay, and it's only
Two hundred more miles to the nearest watering-hole.
We pay heavy for the wars waged by monster rulers,
Self-imposed masters who feed on the products of our labour.
And they celebrate, in the desperate way of the unloved.
But we stay for we are stronger than they and,
Being stronger, need no rulers, nor need their rule.
Our shared consciousness, our mutual needs,
Make us stronger than they.
And we make love.
We make love without fear or guilt because
We are neither fearful nor guilty.
And their heads will roll
As the future unfolds
From between our legs.
