My Career

    I am a journalist. I am a news reporter. I will be news reporter. I will be a journalist. I will be a poet. I will be just like Maya Angelou. I will have a poem just like hers and say ¨Still I Rise¨. It won't be the same poem but, it will be a poem like hers. I can be like Maya Angelou, whoever said I couldn't? Nobody did! Ican't be exactly like her but, I can have the same qualitie as her. I can do speeches, I can do poems, I can be an actress. I can anything I can set my mind to as long as I stick to it and don't change. That's just the type of person I am. I'm a writer. I am a journalist. I am a poet. I am a newsreporter. You can't tell me not to do these things because I am going to do them regardless. Who are you to tell me no to do them? Who are you to tell me that the news paper field is going down? In my eyes, I believe the news paper field is going up. You want to know why people the say the newspaper field is going down? Because people aren't putting enough effort ito writing for the newspaper. People are getting lazy and they don't feel like writing. They don't feel liketaking their time with the newspaper. They don't feel like printing or editing. People don't have time for that but, I do. I love writing maybe, I can be a editor. Maybe I can start my own newspaper. Humm, that'll be very interesting if I started my own newspaper. 
    I woder who would read it. Maybe the people around me would read it like: my family, my friends, or even people I don't know. But, in this case I will do what I say I want to do. Because I'm a writier, I'm a journalist, I am a poet, and I'm a newsreportr. Do I speak like a news reporter? Yes. Do I dress like a news reporter? Yes. Do I act like a news reporter? Yes. Do I act like a news reporter? No, but I have the attitude for it. Am I a poet? Yes. Do I have the confidence to be a poet? Yes. Do I dress like a poet? Yes. Am I a writer? Of course I am. Am I Journalist? Yes. My voice might not have the same qualities to be a news reporter but, my voice will get there soon. I'm working on my voice by taking a communications class. It's going just great. I'm not trying to sound cocky but, I know I have to speak the positivity. In order for me to get to where I need to be. Speaking negative on your dreams will never get you any where. That's why you have to speak positive.

    I have to speak positive. People will always down me about my dreams but, I will not listen to them. Who are they to tell me that I can't be a writer, a news reporter, a journalist or a poet? Who are they to tell me that I can't belike Maya Angelou? She is an amazing woman. So, I look up to her. I am going to be those things because no one can stop me. I am going to keep moving foward. If you dont have faith in me, you can get from around me. I will do whatever it takes to succeed in my career. 

    Do you want to know what college I'm at right now? I'm at Prairie State but, I guarantee you in another 2 or 3 years I will be at Columbia University. I will be at Columbia and everybody will know my name. I won't be a nobody. I refuse to be a nobody. People will know my name the day that they see me. They will know what I do. They will know what poetry I write. They will know and recognize my articles. They will know me no matter what I do. Once I get known, then that's how you know my career is going to go higher. If I don't do anything to get my career up high and I don't get my name out there. Then I'm not putting in enough effort towards my career. If I dont get my name out there, how will they know I write? How will they know that I want to be a journalist? How will they know I want to go to Columbia, be a poem or be like Maya Angelou? Somebody will help me with my career. All I have to do is open my mouth and tell them who I am. All I have to do is tell them my name and what I want to acomplish. 

    Well, my name is Taris Kendricks and I want to be a poet. I want to be a writer. I want to be a journalist. I want to be a newsreporter. You think I can't do it? You think I can't go to Columbia? You think I can't do any of these things, watch me! I will do it and be great at it. I will prove you wrong. Matter fact, I will prove you 100% wrong that I am going to do this. You think I won't, watch me! In the next 2 or 3 years, I'm going to be in my career. I got something coming. I know God is watching over me. I know my career is about to start. I know I had some times where I failed but, I'm going to pick that right back up. I am going to succeed in my career.
