Fornevermore

One midnight of may, in all my tears and dismay
Whilst facing the smooth curves of my sonnets
A voice called out from my window, so sweet and so slow
Which reminds me of my muse, my Janette.
I stood up from my stool with eager and courage full
And opened my window, hoping to see her this late
Alas, no! Just darkness, the trees and sad emptiness
I was desperate, I thought it was my Janette.
I sat and pondered again then it started to rain
Though strange it may seem, for it is midnight
Yet it happened, as all the leaves clapened
And the wind, oh horrid wind, embraced me so tight
Darkness shrouded my room, devoured in deathless doom
The wind blew out the candles I've lit
Thunder screamed and what a horror it streamed
Upon me, in the darkness as I sit...
On the window I saw light, something glowing luminously bright
It was a face of beauty like no other
"My Janette!" I yelled but it shook its head
And said, "The angel of nether..."
"Death, though sober, please do not take her!"
'Tis I said, but the image replied
"She is with another even if you beg harder
She will only come once you have died..."
"No, what you say is not true! You've got no clue,
We have been close friends!" I replied
The image laughed and said, "It's all in your head...
For betrayal lies in the rose-red..."
I picked up my knife, and threw it with strife
On that angel of nether
As I did the storms screamed louder, and the thunder grew prouder
And there, thus, appeared a vision of her.
"Janette!" I screamed, but she said, "It's all in your head..."
As I stand I quickly reached for the door
But I find it cannot open as her eyes glistened
And I fell anxiously to the floor...
"Listen my lover, we are not for each other,
Mortals we are, but differ in fate;
Go find another, listen my lover,
Please wake up before its too late..."
The rain stopped pouring and the winds stop singing
But not the thumphing of my shattered heart
My Janette is gone, gone like the sun
In this midnight I realized we must be apart.
Shall I forget her and look for another?
I cannot; I shall cherish her,
I will not change her, not now or forever
Not now or fornevermore.
(Note: The name Janette is a disguised for someone I love but cannot love me back because..."Somebody owns her now."
