Chapter 2
I don’t know how long I had been unconscious as soon as the knife tore through my skin and plunged into my heart, the images rattled my brain like bolts of electricity. The images of my young life being taken from me, that’s when I blacked out for the second time. I remember leaving the station to meet Felicia and then taking the short cut down the alley almost opposite my work. All my friends and colleagues still sat at work talking, taking calls, whilst I was being grabbed by the hair pulled back as the cold steel of the knife ripped through my flesh piercing my insides. I tried to scream but I couldn’t his arm was covering my mouth, he then let me go and I plummeted onto the pavement my vision blurry as he tore the diamond wolf necklace that my mother gave me for my eighteenth birthday from around my neck. Then I saw his big black boots walk off, not once did he turn back and the shadow of death carried me away.
Water all around me, I opened my eyes and let out a scream the same scream that had been burning inside me when I had been violently murdered. Bubbles came out of my mouth and each one was filled with sheer pain and torment as they floated to the surface. Arms pulled me forward away from the water like a baptism in a lake. A girl with long thick dark blonde hair stared at me with sparkling blue eyes full of sympathy.
“Your okay, it’s okay you’re with friends” She said in a hushed voice that was almost a whisper. Even with all the fear I was feeling that shook my bones and chilled me to the core, I was captivated by how beautiful and sad this girl seemed.
“Where am I? What’s going on...I don’t understand” I cried, I used to hate people seeing me cry but I couldn’t help myself.
“What’s your name?” the girl asked
“Silver” I replied
“Silver, my name is Lana. You have been murdered Silver and this is the place where murdered souls go” It all seemed insane; I rubbed my eyes in disbelief.
I looked at Lana again and the shivers became stronger and took over my body like a demon. I recognised her. We had been handed her poster from a neighbouring force about two years ago. She was a missing person.
“I recognise you”
“You do?” she smiled “It’s nice to know people are still looking for me”
Lana
Lana was the most popular girl in her school, she was a straight A student and good at every sport. All the boys in school adored her and all the girls in the school wanted to be her. Lana was blissfully unaware of how worshipped she was.
Then two boys in the School who were the exact opposite decided that they had had enough of School Politics. They were tired of the name calling, the abuse and the fights. They were tired of not getting recognition or noticed. Too weak to stand up to their aggressors they decided to shake up the School and sacrifice the School darling for their mission.
Lana practically floated as she wondered through the wood on her way home, the sunshine bounced off her hair and she looked almost like an angel. It was the most magical surrounding until the predators caught a glimpse of her in their beady bloodthirsty eyes. She was being hunted the little lamb in the wolfs gaze. They crept up behind her carefully avoiding the debris underfoot the branches the twigs all of natures obstacles. They enjoyed the hunt and both of them smiled at one another as they dived toward her.
Lana spun round in surprise but it was already too late the older one had already clubbed her on the head with a rock. She felt the blood pour down her forehead and into her eyes and the younger killer thought she looked like she was crying blood and he felt sick.
“She’s staring at me” He said through his skinny lizard like lips.
“Don’t just stand there” the fat one who had the blood stained rock in his hand and he hit Lana again and again.
Now
Max walked in whilst we were sat down, I had only jut noticed the room. It was very dark with blankets hung up as curtains. There seemed to be blankets and pillows everywhere.
“How you feeling?” He asked
“How do you think she is feeling?” Lana replied “Max finds emotions and tact really hard” She said with a half smile.
“I’ve got to go to work soon” he said very seriously “I just wanted to check you are ok”
“Look Silver Like I said to you before you are in a place where murdered souls go. We have a job to do sometimes it’s to stop potential killers other times it’s to haunt murderers.”
“This has got to be a joke!” I replied “How do you know all this? How do you do this?” I asked
“I know you have a lot of questions but it’s been a lot for you to take in. So get some sleep and tomorrow we will talk about it.” And with that Lana and Max left me and I crawled into the bed drowning in so many blankets and pillows, hoping that when I woke up all of this would have been a dream.
