Last night the candle swayed and danced.
I gazed enraptured and entranced.
It filled the room with joy and hope,
And cast away the dark.
The candle will stay cold tonight.
I'll sit without its comforting light.
But memories will shine and play.
Companions in the dark.
So lead the way, go make new friends.
The wounds of those you've left may mend.
But smile as you put down your glass.
And never fear the dark.

Very good, I always think of Dylan
Very good, I always think of Dylan Thomas, do not go gentle into that good night, rage rage against the dying of the light.
But I like yours much more, peaceful, in general much more healthy I would say.
"The candle will stay cold tonight. I'll sit without its comforting light" and I think of a stunning beautiful lovely brilliant red rose, tomorrow it will be wilted, passed, as was my oupa (grandfather).
All the best, keep well! Tom Brown

candle in the wind
The beautiful song of Elton John. Once someone asked me, is a candle better off burning, a flame, or when not, as put out &&
Lovely poem, beautiful.
