Prophecy
The visions in your minds eye,
Ring true every time I cry.
Your words fall on deafened ears,
Your touch no longer numbs my fears.
I tried to dispel the torment your words breathed,
Tried to comfort the sadness they seethed.
The dreams I have do not resemble yours,
And it is not I who is keeping score.
Do you see the prophecy coming true?
If it is to be so, it's all because of you.
I have tried to calm your self-destructiveness,
But frankly, I am getting tired of cleaning up the mess.
Your self-loathing nights have tormented me enough,
Your overindulgence has made me ever so tough.
I love you more than my words can say,
But your prophecy is going to come true someday.
Your greatest fear will come around,
Bringing your world crashing to the ground.
What will you do when your words ring true?
Will you move on and find someone new?
I cannot bare that thought,
But it is all that I have got.
Maybe you will then be able to mend,
Maybe it will help you to understand.
All I know is your prophet self is destroying my life,
It's causing me pain and never ending strife.
Your self-demeaning prophecy is hardening my soul,
True to your words, your dreams, and your ultimate, untimely
goal!
This is your prophecy, your momentary lapse of despair,
Before to long it will be I who will no longer care.
