I had two main very important things I had to do today, before I saw Elevation Worship tonight for the first time live on stage; I had to charge my phone and try and buy their t-shirt before the concert. I wanted to be ahead of the game, to out think the other thousands of fans.
My Daughter Meghan who was hundreds of miles away text me to say, “You need to find the Tea Tent, in there you can charge your phone for a small fee,” So I let the others know, “I’m going to find the Tea Tent and try and buy a t-shirt of Elevation Worship.”
I asked some of the Stewards of which there was plenty of them, “Where can I buy a t-shirt with Elevation Worship on, and where is the Tea Tent?” They pointed me in a direction for the Tea Tent and he said, “It is far, far away over the hill there,” I thought he was joking, so I asked another Steward, he said the same thing, I’d not been this way before, and to my utter amazement, on both sides were every food take away you could ever imagine! It was awesome, there was a Vegan take away, and it gave me great pleasure to take a picture of no one buying anything at that stall, even though I do know that lots of people there would be Vegan and Vegetarian, for there were lots of Vegetarian stalls. Of course, my favourite take away in the world was also there Fish n Chips. There was a round platform along this large path with take aways on both sides and what appeared to be freestyle street dancers, dancing on it, if I had to guess I’d say they were from somewhere like Brazil, it was awesome.
The sun was hot as I walked slowly on the food path then I saw something that stopped me in my tracks, a woman had a hessian bag with the logo and words, “Stop The Traffik,” With the open palm hand with the key in the middle, this is my photo on ABC Tales, I HAD to have that bag! I asked a Steward nearby, “Is there a shop near here?” He replied, “Just there on your right,” I said, “Thank you,” And walked quickly into the large marquee, I scanned my eyes hastily as to which of the many stalls would sell that actual bag and made a beeline for that stall. I said to the stall holder, “Do you sell…..” And as I looked down in front of me, there it was, I said, “How much is it?” Not that it made any difference, for I was going to buy it regardless, he said, “Three nighty nine,” I said, “I’d like to buy it please,” He said, “It’s the last one,” I was SO happy, I couldn’t give him my money quick enough, I didn’t want a bag, I wanted to advertise, that “People shouldn’t be bought and sold.”
Then I asked that stall holder, “Where can I buy a t-shirt with Elevation Worship on?” He replied, “Try the merchandise marquee opposite this one,” I said, “Thank you and went into the huge marquee, as I went and walked a short distance, I could see a HUGE queue, I wondered if that was THE queue for the Elevation Worship t-shirts, my heart did sink, the fear of them running out, and are these the diehard fans who were ahead of the game, I went to the front of the queue and asked, “Is this the queue for the Elevation Worship t-shirts?” The trendy sales woman said, “No, this is the queue for the Tauren Wells t-shirts and merchandise,” I asked her, “Do you know where I can buy Elevation Worship t-shirts?” She replied, “I don’t, but ask some of the other stall holders in here or a Steward,” I said, “Thank you.”
I walked around the other fabulous stalls, and in any other setting or situation I’d have stopped and enjoyed browsing, some people their hopes seen to be raised as I neared their stall, but I smiled and carried on, I was on a mission. I didn’t realise the place was SO vast, but there had to be somewhere selling them. It was a very happy atmosphere, but I was a bit stressful and hopeful at the same time, it was just a matter of time, until I found where they were selling them. I went back into the huge marquee where I’d bought my fabulous bag and asked in there and was told, “Try the marquee opposite,” I informed the stall holder, “I’ve just come from there,” But having looked properly in this one, I was informed, “That IS the merchandise tent.” So, once again I went back to the merchandise tent and went back to the still massive queue for Tauren Wells I asked a different stall holder, “Where can I buy t-shirts with Elevation Worship on?” She said, “If they are not selling any, then you won’t be able to buy them for anywhere, you will have to look on line,” I said, “You mean, no one here can buy Elevation Worship t-shirts or merchandise at the B.C.D.O.?” She said, “That’s right, there is nothing here for sale by Elevation Worship,” I was gutted and said, “I wanted to buy a t-shirt with all their European tour dates on the back, to keep forever as only one day they were in England of them singing, they not selling anything they have lost a lot of money,” She smiled sweetly and said, “They will be for sale on line,” I said, “I know but the tour dates won’t be on them,” I said, “Thank you,” And left the marquee.
My search was over, it wasn’t the end of the world. I didn’t want one from on line. After all, I would see them live tonight and that’s why I was there. I love Elevation Worship. So, I left the hot marquee and came out into the even hotter sun and carried on walking, and as I walked, I saw the other attractions that was on offer, the death defying Leap of Faith, like a bungee jump, the little aeroplane, the archery, my Husband would love that! Then the other things in my programme started to make sense, I saw Tom’s Stage! So, there wasn’t just one stage, the only stage I’d seen so far was called The Main stage, but there were many stages, where other Bands and Singers preformed, with families, friends, chilled sat on the grassy fields soaking up the music, it was beautiful, like a small piece of Heaven.
I had no power now, so my steps on my watch and mobile was unable to count my precious steps, I arrived at the Bible Society outside stand, it had charger connectors for all mobiles and I found one for mine, you had to stand there, with everyone else, there was only three others standing with me and it was slow! What seem like ages I had only 5% on my phone, so I unplugged it, no wonder it was free. So, I carried on as the road went to the right and upwards, it was a gentle walk, steps wasted as not counting but each step was taking me nearer to the Tea Tent.
It was very well signed posted, even I couldn’t get lost. There were thousands of people here of all ages, of many nationalities, it was lovely to see such harmony. Yesterday I didn’t know this part existed, but everyone else did, I’d only known the Main Stage, the camp site, the caravan site, the car park, the showers and the loos.
Eventually I could see after walking for about 45 minutes, another stage and the Tea Tent was on my left and far in the distance the family of Wiston House sitting outside, yes I did take a picture of them, and hoped I wouldn’t get arrested and passing the crowds on my left, that was listening to the band playing, I entered the Tea Tent. I asked, “Where can I charge my phone?” I was pointed to the lady on my right, as I approached, I saw a table I would say it was about three yards long by two yards wide, rammed packed with mobile phones all plugged in. I thought, well if this is funded by Tear Fund, their health and safety as a lot to be desired! I thought it was a massive fire risk, but hey, I was there like everyone else to get power! The Staff said to me, as she scanned the crowed table, “There is just one space left,” And she plugged me in, it was my battery pack I had given her, not my mobile phone so I’d be able to charge my watch too and not just my phone, killing two birds with one stone. She said, as he sellotaped a number to my battery, “Keep this, do not lose it, or you won’t be able to get your device back,” And she handed me a ticket with the same number on, “Be back in two hours, or less,” I thought, who would want to be back less,? I replied, “OK,” And handed her my one pound, and made my way slowly, down the pleasant hill. Passing all the lovely attractions, sights, sounds and smells, and laughter.
I knew that Elevation Worship would be at the indoor outdoor UCB radio station at 16.35 so I had time to eat first and then go see them. The sun had gone in a bit by now, we were sitting in a different place to yesterday and past there by the main stage and having got lost, found base and was still full from breakfast but ate a bit of Lydia’s lovely chili con carne, I didn’t want the potato but had it hot in a wrap. Others has scattered far and wide, doing their own thing.
I’d past the UCB stage, the inside bit is were the guests and radio presenter are and those sitting on the seats in the audience their back to us, as it goes out wide onto the outside, where all the seats are taken, then outside its standing room only. Was looking forward to seeing my two favourite singers, I didn’t know their names, but I knew their faces and loved their songs and videos, it was going to be a great night.
