Four years ago, a radio station was launch, called Premier Christian Radio – the Premier Praise section in DAB. And from that I heard Bands and Singers I had not heard before, one of them was Elevation Worship. Any song that came on and I liked it, I would look on YouTube and from there play the song again and again. There are lots of Singers and Bands who are not known to any of the DJ’s on Radio 1, such as: -
Chris Tomlin.
Newsboys.
Michael W. Smith.
Casting Crowns.
Third Day.
MercyMe.
Needtobreathe.
For King & Country.
DC Talk.
Matt Redman.
Kutless.
David Crowder Band.
Petra.
2nd Chapter of Acts.
Commissioned.
The Majestic Singers.
Citizens.
Rivers & Robots.
Hillsongs.
Keith Green.
Zach Williams.
Kari Jobe.
Bethel Music.
Jars of Clay
Chris McClarney.
Martyn Joseph.
To name just a few. I love music and music of all genre including, Handel’s Messiah and the 77’s. My favourite song of all time is not in the list above, for it is called Killing Me Softly, by Roberta Flack. How fantastic is that song, it would take something very special to ever knock that of my top, of my song list. Some of the Artist above and many not mentioned have come into my top ten like Blessed Assurance by Chris McClarney and Master, by The Majestic Singers, Rivers & Robots singing We Have Overcome, I hate songs that start with the title, but Rivers & Robots is an exception, the song starts with the title…..
In the past I’ve had debates with the question, “Which would you choose to be if you had to choose one, to be born deaf or blind?” In the past I can’t remember what my reply was I think it would be to be deaf, as much as I love music, I’d rather be able to see danger, or the sky….but I digress. As with certain smells, like home cooking when we were younger, music brings us right back to a good or a bad time in our lives. I usually play a song to death! Over and over and over again for months and sometimes I go off it, this hasn’t happened to Killing Me Softly, and neither has it happened to Elevation Worship. There is about six of their songs I like, and from those four I really like, then there is two from that list and there is ONE that stands out as my favourite, making it almost on a par with Killing Me Softly! So, my favourite Elevation Worship songs are all from the live versions (only) watch on YouTube: -
Yahweh.
Mighty Cross.
Grateful, sung by my second favourite singer.
Here in His Presence, sung by my second favourite singer.
Yours (Glory and Praise), sung by my favourite singer.
Do It Again, sung by my favourite singer, on Earth, in my opinion, his voice sounds 100% pure.
I don’t know any of their names, as it doesn’t say when you type in who sings that song in Elevation Worship.
When I was young, my Mum had the record of Handel’s Messiah, this particular sleeve was awesome, it looked like Cherubs and Angels in the air in a circle and in the middle was a very bright light, while I listened to the songs I would try to imagine what Heaven must be like, and looking at that record sleeved I always use to imagine a glimpse of what Heaven must be like, I don’t know if this coloured drawing is from a painting, that is famous somewhere around the World, but it was beautiful, I spent many minutes looking at it while the songs played. Watching and listening to the six Elevation Worship songs mentioned has made me feel the same way again, what worship in Heaven must be like, sports it has been said, has helped to break down some racial barriers and so it is with these beautiful worship songs, watching the faces of some of the many people in the audience. Oh, I’d love to have been there. So, it was more than a dream come true that I was to be at The Big Church Day Out, where Elevation Worship was to sing for one night only, and their first time in the UK from America.
I was SO excited.
