One Hundred Million Dollars.

This week I watched two documentaries about Whitney Huston. I hadn’t planned to watch them, nor did I know they would be on, I believe it is now six years since she died! Age just forty-eight. She had such an amazing voice, she was beautiful ‘inside and out,’ in my opinion. She did have a clean-cut image, although rumours were circulating about her private life, l like most didn’t believe it at first. People can be SO cruel.
I loved the Bodyguard, what a fantastic film. Her and Kevin Costner were so good together and the song that went with the film, I will Always Love You, written by Dolly Parton, Whitney’s voice is so amazing, what a Gift, what talent.
And yet in the documentary this week she talked about the miscarriage she had during the filming of The Bodyguard, she wasn’t even given one day to grieve. The documentary went through the many factors that lead to her untimely death.
She was abused by her female cousin. Her own Mother and famous Auntie said, “This did not happen,” Were they there? So, Whitney didn’t get any support, counselling or help in that matter.
Whitney turned to drugs at a young age, I and many others believed it was her Husband Bobby Brown who turned her bad, and caused her downfall, but no he wasn’t to blame, he didn’t help, but he wasn’t to blame. It was mentioned last night on the programme that she was into drugs and he was into drink, then they both took drugs and drink!
She had a lesbian lover called Robyn, who kept her grounded, sane and on the ‘straight and narrow,’ her real-life lovely bodyguard and her Daughter and a few others like make up and hair artist really cared for the real Whitney. Everybody else were just hangers on.
At a huge event Whitney was booed by a lot of Black Artists and at the same event it was Bobby who showed her kindness. Those closest to her, said, “They are not well matched.” But he was there when she was feeling very low. The media didn’t help, they said, “She married him to stop the rumours that she is gay.” Robyn was still in the ‘picture,’ and Bobby and Robyn hated each other, both were fighting for Whitney’s attention.
Her real-life bodyguard David Roberts, said “I would have given my life to protect Whitney,” He wrote a report that she, “Needed help,” But it was ignored and so after many years loyal service he was dismissed. He said, “She would still be alive today, if they had listened to me.”
After the huge success of the film, ‘The Bodyguard,’ she became very famous and could no longer just walk down the street, years later she wanted to take a break, and relax and have quality time with her Daughter but all the entourage, still had bills to pay, they didn’t want her to stop, she had to keep going, tired or not.
She was closer to her Dad than her Mum, but two months before he died her sued her for one hundred million dollars! Two months before he died!!! What was he going to spend it on! That hurt Whitney.
She loved her Daughter Bobbi Kristina, who she didn’t see that often, sometimes she would phone her three times a week.
Eventually Robyn left, and some said, “She went downhill from then”. Whitney never saw her again, she later on had her own Partner, Lisa and they have twins.
Whitney gave some interviews, and she said in one of them, “Money and fame does not make you happy.” That is SO true, when we think of many people who are rich and famous, they have troubled lives.
Bobby Brown, eventually had too many affairs for Whitney to ignore and she divorced him. Not long after he married someone else and he now has a son and daughter with his new Wife.
Whitney’s Mum to this day, does not accept she was gay or bisexual, and she didn’t like Robyn or Bobby Brown.
Whitney wanted to change her lifestyle and make a comeback, but years of abuse of many different drugs had taken its toll and sadly she was found face down in the bath. Her beloved Daughter Bobbi Kristina was also found dead in the bath too, soon after. Its been a sad, sad state of affairs. She was just 22.
The documentary near its end had Whitney singing, the video showed her in Jamaica on holiday with Bobby and Bobbi and the song in the background, ‘Where do broken hearts go, can they find their way home, back to the open arms of the love that’s waiting there, if somebody loves you, won’t they always love you…..?”
RIP Whitney and Bobbi Xx
