The Pigeon

I was up town today, I often see pigeons, but today was different, this one got my attention, for as I was walking, minding my own business, this pigeon almost got trodden under my feet! Briefly I'd touched the edge of his tail, I wanted to say "sorry, I didn't see you there" but I couldn't, for although we were so close, he was from another world to me, there was no connection. This saddened me for a moment, and I carried on going about my business, eventually forgetting the pigeon.
On my way home now, and on the road where I live, a lad, a Teenager, was coming towards me, he lives on my road, I have known him since he was very small, and we often used to say to each other in a happy voice "Good morning" but as we approached each other today, he didn't 'know' me I wanted to say "Hi" but he looked straight on, we were now in different worlds! He was a different age to me and a different culture & a different gender. It wouldn't look 'cool' to say hello to me now, that saddened me, then I remembered the pigeon I'd seen earlier......
