Sixteen Years!

How many people can say that, that they have been with their mobile phone company for sixteen years! Well I can!
But I will be leaving them at the end of April 2013 for I have more than had enough! At first it was great I was pay as you go and in control and in charge. That all changed when I decided to go contract! Their prices really went up then.
I had a smart phone a 'free' Nokia N8 and they told me it was a contract for two and a half years!!! I have now found out I would have paid a lot for this 'free' phone by the time my two and a half years is up. That's a really long time in this day and age to be stuck with the same phone! The rest of my family are with the same mobile company but they are all pay as you go. I pay £5 each month and we can all talk to each other for 'free' so the kids don't need any credit in their mobiles to talk to us or each other. They told me I have unlimited internet and texts and I think 300 minutes talk time. They themselves said to me I only use 100 minutes of my talk time each month, and they can see that I only use 20 minutes or less of my internet time each month! My text each month is about 500 my bill on the other hand has been £40 what it should be, but some months it was £50, £60 and once it was £70 way too much, so last year 2012 in January I rang them up and said, “If I leave you today, how much will it cost me?” I was informed, “£400” I said, “OK, I will stay with you, and when my contracts ends 2013 in February I leave you!!” I was offered a very good offer by Virgin and decided to find out again exactly what date my contract would end with them only to be told it was now the end of April!!! They had moved the goal posts. Undeterred, I still intend to leave and I have made it clear to them. They don't seem bothered, but I will be much richer when I leave them. Even If I go with a contract with Virgin, they have a two year contract, and if I am paying £15-£20 a month I will still be laughing compared to £40 a month upwards!
I have to think of the family though, but it will still be MUCH cheaper for all of us when I leave them, at the end of April 2013. I don't know yet, if I will do again a binding contract or take back control and go pay as you go. I have a few months to still think about it. I will be 1% sorry to leave for I know the phone company I am with now and have been with for the past sixteen years, I see them as the best!
But they are NOT the best for US!
I have asked people who I work with who they are with, the younger ones change every year! I have made note of some of the other phone companies and there are good deals on the internet, some even do sim card only! So I hope to save at least £100 to £200 this year when I leave them!!
