Suzi the very disabled girl, her parents were just lovely, they were helpful, open and honest. With her notes that came with her, they filled us in with her likes and dislikes, they also added what they wanted us to do, and we did all they asked, we the dedicated Helpers did a fantastic job, and soon Suzi had her favourites among us, but she got on well with us all. She was very well cared for, we documented everything she did, places she went and things she did, food she ate, her parents didn’t like her going to the pub and only wanted her to have diet drinks.
After a while we found out she loved going to the pubs and didn’t like any diet drinks! So we took her to pubs far and wide, there are some wonderful establishments, smart and quirky, she was beginning to open up and enjoy herself, she never wanted diet drinks but her parents brought her bottles and bottles of it every month for her to consume, so we had to give it to her, finding the happy medium. Personally, I would have thrown then all down the sink and suggest this to my Manager but he said, “No, we can’t do that.”
